Project Overview

Nikudu is an interactive, motion-based educational platform designed to teach children how to read Hebrew and learn Hebrew vowel marks (Nikud / ניקוד). The platform shifts children away from passive screen time by combining reading practice, body movements, physical play, and Augmented Reality (AR).

Project Summary :

Developed by educators, Nikudu transforms early reading acquisition into an active and gamified experience. By associating each punctuation mark and sound with specific body movements, the application leverages physical interaction to reinforce phonetics, letter sound recognition, and sentence building.

  • Kinesthetic & AR Learning: Uses interactive Augmented Reality (AR) and body movement tracking so children physically move and gesture to practice vowel sounds.
  • Gradual Progression System: Structured like martial arts belt levels (starting from White Belt), guiding learners step-by-step from vowel identification to reading full words and sentences.
  • Gamified Reinforcement: Offers interactive challenges, animations, rewards, and achievements to maintain motivation and encourage self-paced learning.
  • Cross-Platform Availability: Native apps tailored for Windows desktop PCs (supporting camera-based interaction) and iOS mobile devices.
